故事发生在明朝年间，一桩血腥的灭门惨案震惊了京城，惨案中唯一幸存的是富翁周葵富（闵政 饰）的女儿采儿（王莎莎 饰）。临死之前，周葵富给了采儿一枚柳哨，让她投奔天下镖局的王振威（周群达 饰），希望王振威能够护送采儿回到山西老家，向家族长老们揭露事件的真相。 原来，这一切的幕后黑手正是采儿的继母玉观音（孟广美 饰），她的所谓意在侵吞周葵富的全部财产。途中，采儿幸运的偶遇了亦要前往山西的王振威，采儿女扮男装，一老一少结伴而行。哪知道一路上危险不断，层出不穷的刺客纷纷将矛头指向了采儿。最终，两人顺利的抵达了目的地，没想到却落入了玉观音设下的又一个圈套之中。。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely.
