The startled villagers decide to knock...。中央电影企业股份有限公司二厂出品，摄影：石凤岐。 抗战胜利，陆太太的大女儿文兰的未婚夫司徒炎就要从重庆回到上海，陆太太和文兰以为他是接收大员显得非常兴奋，小女儿文惠却对这个未曾谋面的接收大员非常反感。当陆太太和文兰见到司徒炎后却发现原来他只是个穷记者，两人顿时变得非常冷淡，不久文兰便和司徒炎解除了婚约，文惠则渐渐对正直的司徒炎产生了好感。一天，司徒炎在报上揭露了一桩贪污案，此案牵连了陆太太的哥哥韩大爷和他的那些上司，司徒炎拒绝了陆太太她们的贿赂，那些贪官污吏便恼羞成怒将报馆捣毁还打伤了司徒炎，民众则很支持司徒炎，最终，司徒炎和文惠走到了一起。。
